Several people were hurt after a Delta flight traveling from LA to Sydney experienced rough air Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, a company official informed. A number of the onboard staff sustained injuries.

The New South Wales Ambulance Service said they assessed a total of five people, and took three to hospital with minor injuries that such as pain in the back and migraines. The patients' ages ranged from their thirties and seventies.

It is the latest incident of planes encountering severe turbulence, with experts pointing out that climate change is a significant contributor.

The aircraft was carrying 245 people and 15 crew members on the aircraft, the official noted, stating that the plane arrived "without further incident" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday morning.

The NSW Ambulance Service reported they were alerted just only 180 seconds prior to the plane arrived, and ambulances were ready and waiting at the airport.

The reasons turbulence is growing more frequent - and often stronger.

In the previous year, two dozen individuals sustained injuries when a separate Delta aircraft, flying from Salt Lake City, Utah to Amsterdam, Netherlands, experienced "significant" atmospheric disturbance just two hours into the long-haul flight, and had to make an emergency landing.
